I showed Val the website I’d been working on all week for her.

“Wow!” she said. “It looks great! I love the blue and black, too. Those colors really suit me, I think. Should I start wearing more blue?”

I laughed. “If you want to,” I said. “Here—look at the features. You got your contact information, email subscriber list, photos, news about upcoming shows, videos from past shows, and a blog.”

“Blog?”

“Sure.” I shrugged. “People love reading personal stories about famous people.”

“Am I famous?”

“You’re going to be.”

Val smiled. “Hope so.”

“You will be,” I said confidently.

“Thanks for everything,” she said. “Seriously. It all looks so amazing. Do you mind if I call Julian at the club and tell him about the website? He could link to it from the club’s page and maybe we’ll start getting some interest.”

I liked the ‘we’ part of that sentence. “Sure,” I said.

Val excitedly jumped up and called the club, and I just smiled to myself as I scrubbed our dishes from breakfast. I was so glad she liked the site. I had spent way more time working on her site than any other, and I was really proud of it. It was probably the most professional-looking site I’d ever made.

A few minutes later, once the dishes were in the drying rack and I was packing supplies for our nature walk, Val came back into the kitchen. “Julian likes the website,” she told me. “He said he’s going to send out an email to everyone that’s bought a ticket for my show online through the club’s website and get them to check it out.”

“That’s great,” I said. “But we’re going to have to do a bit more to finish setting it up. We’re going to have to actually put pictures and videos on there. Do you have any pictures to put up?”

“Wendy probably has a few,” she said. “But I don’t know about videos.”

“You might have to get some at your next show,” I said. “I could go, if you wanted me to, and record some clips for you.”

“That’d be perfect,” she said. “It’s only three weeks away, so we have plenty of time to prepare. We could put some pictures up in the meantime, and we could also email everyone that signs up and let them know about the upcoming show.”

My heart was soaring. She was so excited and motivated. I loved seeing that. What’s hotter than motivation and confidence? Absolutely nothing.

I grabbed her and kissed her. “You’re amazing, you know that?”

“You’re amazing too,” she said. “Now let’s go. We have a tiny hill to climb. A tiny hill that wishes deep, deep down in its rocky, little heart that it was a mountain.”

I laughed. The butterflies soared.

This woman just absolutely dazzled me.
